Abstract

ABSTRACT

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY SUPPORT AND FALL INCIDENTS AMONG ELDERLY AT BULUKERTO HEALTH CENTER

The occurrence of falls in the elderly has a significant impact on their quality of life and independence. Family support plays a crucial role in emphasizing the importance of preventing falls. The objective of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between family support and falls in the elderly at the Bulukerto Community Health Center in Wonogiri Regency. In achieving this, a Descriptive Correlational design with a Cross-Sectional approach was employed. The research population consists of elderly individuals attending the elderly integrated health post within the Bulukerto Community Health Center area, and purposive sampling technique was used to select 97 respondents. Data were collected through the administration of questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The research findings indicate that the majority of the elderly have good family support, with 56 respondents (57.7%), and the majority of respondents did not experience falls, with 66 respondents (68%). Based on the analysis results, there is a relationship between family support and falls, as evidenced by a p-value of 0.015 (p-value < 0.05). The conclusion of this research is that good family support contributes positively to falls in the elderly. As a recommendation, the Community Health Center can design educational programs for the families of the elderly, focusing on raising awareness about the importance of family support in preventing falls among the elderly, as well as enhancing the effectiveness of specific care plans for elderly individuals with family support.
