Compliance with taking medication is a pillar in controlling diabetes mellitus, which aims to ensure that sufferers avoid various kinds of diabetes mellitus emergencies and have a good quality of life. This research aims to determine the relationship between medication adherence and the incidence of diabetes mellitus emergencies at the internal medicine polyclinic at RSU 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo.

The research design uses a correlation design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 96 respondents. Sampling used Purposive Sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and data analysis using the Spearman Rank method.

The results of the study showed that of the 96 respondents, 69 (71.9%) respondents were compliant with taking medication with no diabetes mellitus emergencies occurring as many as 50 (52.1%) respondents and 19 (19.8%) respondents with diabetes mellitus emergencies occurring. respondents, while 27 (28.1%) respondents who did not adhere to taking medication with no diabetes mellitus emergencies were 11 (11.5%) respondents and 16 (16.7%) respondents with diabetes mellitus emergencies occurred. Based on the results of the Spearman Rank statistical test, a p value of 0.003 was obtained with a significance level of α = 0.05 (p<0.05), which means that H1 was accepted.

The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between medication adherence and the incidence of diabetes mellitus emergencies at the internal medicine polyclinic at RSU 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo. It is hoped that patients will comply with taking the medication recommended by health workers in order to have a good quality of life and avoid various kinds of emergencies that occur.
