The group of non-communicable diseases known as Diabetes Mellitus are metabolic disorders caused by insufficient or inefficient insulin production by the pancreas, or by problems with the way the body uses the insulin produced. Other factors that can influence a patient's blood sugar levels include age, genetic history, health care provider, disease, treatment and knowledge. Psychological factors including memory and Health Locus Of Control can influence the control of blood sugar levels. This study aims to determine the relationship between Health Locus Of Control and blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Panggul Trenggalek Community Health Center.
This research uses a cross-sectional research design. The research sample was 77 respondents from DM patients at the Panggul Trenggalek Community Health Center. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using questionnaires and checking blood sugar levels. Data analysis used the Chi-square method.
The research results show that there is a relationship between Health Locus Of Control and blood sugar levels in Diabetes Mellitus patients. The results of the Chi-square statistical test obtained a p value of 0.001 with a significance level of >0.05. In this way, respondents are expected to be able to increase their knowledge of Diabetes Mellitus by understanding in depth the risk factors, monitoring blood sugar levels and the importance of controlling blood sugar levels to prevent the occurrence of Diabetes Mellitus and the risk of complications it causes.
