Abstract

Social development is an important aspect of early childhood development. This study was conducted with the aim of finding out the results of the analysis of the social development of children aged 5-6 years from the perspective of multicultural education at SB AMI Penang, Malaysia. The focus of this research is on the aspects of social competence, supporting factors and inhibiting factors of children's social development. The research method in this study is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection method uses interviews with teachers, observation in early childhood education classes and documentation. The analysis stage is the main focus which involves three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study showed that the social development of 2 out of 6 children aged 5-6 years showed a Very Good Development (BSB) scale while the other 4 were still on the Developing Scale (MB). The five social competencies that children have an interrelated influence. The inhibiting factors in the implementation of education, for example, consist of parents, children and teachers. Supporting factors in the implementation of this education consist of parents, peers, and teachers.
