THE RELATIONSHIP OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE BEHAVIOR OF
ADOLESCENTS IN TRAFFIC IN VOCATIONAL STUDENTS
MUHAMMADIYAH 1 PONOROGO

Teenagers are one of the segments contributing to traffic accidents.
Teenagers' knowledge about driving is still lacking because it is still a new thing.
Lack of knowledge makes teenagers less responsive to dangerous situations so
that accidents can occur. Peer influence can also be a driving factor for risky
behavior that makes teenagers ignore the rules set for safety. The purpose of the
study was to explain the relationship between knowledge and adolescent behavior
in traffic.
A descriptive quantitative research method to see the description of
adolescent knowledge and behavior related to traffic. Cross-sectional research
design. The population of the study was adolescents of SMK Muhammadiyah 1
Ponorogo totaling 53 respondents. Sampling used Total Sampling.
The research results showed that 21 respondents (39.6%) had good
knowledge and 32 respondents (60.4%) had poor knowledge. Positive behavior
was 18 respondents (34.0%) and negative behavior was 35 respondents (66.0%).
Analysis using the Chi Square Statistical Test for the relationship between
knowledge and adolescent behavior in traffic obtained a p-value of 0.001 p < α
(0.05), which means there is a relationship between knowledge and adolescent
behavior in traffic at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo.
The results of the research conducted need to be maintained and improved
in terms of knowledge for adolescents so that adolescents can improve their traffic
behavior.
