Abstract

This research discusses Teun A. Van Djik's critical discourse analysis model regarding political news for the 2024 Ponorogo Regional Election on Mediaponorogo.com. The aim of this research is to discover and analyze how Mediaponorogo.com reports on the 2024 Ponorogo Pilkada, especially by paying attention to word choice, framing and candidate representation. In addition, the aim of this research is to find evidence of partiality or bias in the reporting by examining whether there are certain tendencies that could influence public perceptions of the candidates covered. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, namely researchers can analyze and understand the meaning contained in news texts and understand how the information is compiled and conveyed to the public. The method used is Teun A. Van Djik's critical discourse analysis model. Data obtained through observation and documentation of the 2024 Ponorogo Pilkada news on Mediaponorogo.com.
The results of the research show that the reporting on the 2024 Ponorogo Regional Election on Mediaponorogo.com in terms of word choice, framing and candidate representation shows a tendency for inequality in reporting on the two candidate pairs. Apart from that, the news posted on Mediaponorogo.com shows an element of partiality. Certain news stories show clear bias against certain candidates.
