Abstract
Adolescents in their growth and development phase experience psychological changes that are prone to causing stress. The most important factor is parents with the parenting patterns they apply. This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and stress levels instudents at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo.
The method used is correlation research with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample was 78 undergraduate nursing students at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo obtained by random sampling. Data collection was carried out using the PAQ questionnaire (Parenting Patterns) and the DASS Questionnaire (Stress Level). The data were then analyzed using the chi-square test.
In the category of parenting patterns, 29 students (37.2%) received a permissive parenting pattern and 22 students (28.2%) received an authoritarian parenting pattern. In the stress level category, 50 students (64.1%) experienced mild stress and 28 students (35.9%) experienced moderate stress. Based on the chi- square test, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained where <0.05, so it was concluded that H1 was accepted, namely there is a relationship between parenting patterns and stress levels in adolescents in the Nursing Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo.
Adolescents who have inappropriate parenting patterns will usually cause stress in children due to the environment created due to inappropriate parenting patterns. Several factors that cause stress for adolescents are the family environment, one of which is the parenting pattern applied in the family, personality factors, and environmental conditions in the community.
