Abstract

The elderly phase was marked by a decline in physical, mental, and social functions, along with an increased risk of degenerative diseases. The elderly posyandu program aimed to improve quality of life through regular health monitoring and social activities, but participation remained low due to various obstacles. This study aimed to determine the relationship between participation in elderly posyandu and the quality of life of the elderly at Posyandu Sangen, Mategal Village, Parang Subdistrict, Magetan Regency.
This research used a quantitative analytic correlational design with a cross-sectional method. A total of 52 elderly participants were selected from a population of 110 using purposive sampling. The independent variable was the activeness of attending posyandu, while the dependent variable was the quality of life of the elderly, measured using the Elderly Cohort form and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test.
The results showed that 75% of the respondents were categorized as inactive and 25% as active in attending posyandu. Regarding quality of life, 71,2% had low quality of life and 28,8% had high quality of life. The data analysis showed a p-value = 0,000, indicating that there was a significant relationship between participation in posyandu and the quality of life of the elderly in Posyandu Sangen, Mategal Village, Parang District, Magetan Regency.
It was concluded that participation in posyandu improved the quality of life among the elderly. It was recommended to increase elderly participation in posyandu activities regularly as an effort to maintain and enhance their quality of life in old age.
