HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) remains a global health issue. The Indonesian Ministry of Health recorded 377,650 HIV cases and 145,037 AIDS cases in 2023, mostly among those of productive age, 3.7% of whom were adolescents. Health education is considered crucial in early HIV/AIDS prevention. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using animated videos on attitudes toward HIV/AIDS prevention among adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Ponorogo.
The research design used a pre-experimental approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest model. The sample consisted of 81 eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ponorogo, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using an attitude questionnaire and analyzed using the McNemars test with a Sig. <α = 0.05.
The pre-test results showed that 56.8% of respondents had negative attitudes, while 67.9% experienced an improvement after receiving health education using animated videos. The statistical test results showed a Sig. <α = 0.05. of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating that health education using animated videos has an effect on HIV/AIDS prevention attitudes among adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Ponorogo.
It can be concluded that health education using animated videos has an effect on HIV/AIDS prevention attitudes among adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Ponorogo. Therefore, health education in schools can be implemented continuously to increase students' knowledge and attitudes regarding HIV/AIDS prevention.
