By : Yuli Faiqoturrohmah
A normal and regular menstrual cycle reflects a healthy reproductive condition, but not all female adolescents experience it. Menstrual cycle disorders such as polymenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, and amenorrhea often occur, one of the main causes of which is stress. Final year female students are one of the groups that are vulnerable to experiencing high stress due to academic burdens, including the preparation of a thesis, which can have an impact on menstrual cycle irregularities. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress and menstrual cycle disorders in final year S1 and D3 nursing students at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo.
This study design uses a cross-sectional approach with a quantitative correlational research type. The sampling technique uses random sampling, the sample in this study was 99 respondents. Data collection used the PSS-10 questionnaire and the menstrual cycle questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Chi Square with a significance level of 0.05.
The results of the study from 99 respondents, there were 58 respondents (58.6%) who experienced moderate stress and there were 41 respondents (41.4%) who experienced severe stress. 49 respondents (49.5%) whose menstrual cycle is 21-35 days (normal), 15 respondents (15.2%) whose menstrual cycle is <21 days/ polymenorrhea (abnormal) and 35 respondents (35.4%) whose menstrual cycle is >35 days/ oligomenorrhea (abnormal). With a significant value of 0.000 (p<0.05).
It can be concluded that there is a Relationship Between Stress and Menstrual Cycle Disorders in Final Year Nursing S1 and D3 Students at Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. The results of this study are expected to increase knowledge about stress and menstrual cycle disorders.
