NURSING CARE PLAN FOR A POST-OPERATIVE FEMUR FRACTURE PATIENT WITH IMPAIRED PHYSICAL MOBILITY

Femoral fractures are a common cause of trauma, traffic accidents, and falls. After surgery, patients often experience impaired physical mobility due to pain, decreased muscle strength, and limited movement. Impaired physical mobility is the inability to independently move various parts of the body. The purpose of this study was to provide an overview of nursing care for postoperative femoral fracture patients with impaired physical mobility.
The study used a case study method with a nursing process approach, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Nursing care was provided for three days in the Flamboyan Ward of Dr. Harjono Ponorogo Regional Hospital in June 2025.
Assessment results on the first postoperative day revealed the patient complaining of pain, limited movement, and muscle weakness in the right lower extremity. The patient had a 150 cc red drain inserted. The nursing diagnosis was impaired physical mobility related to decreased muscle strength. Interventions provided included observation, therapeutic interventions, education, and family support. Implementation included gradual mobilization from sitting in bed, sitting at the side of the bed, and moving to a chair. Evaluations showed increased muscle strength and improved mobility. Providing structured and targeted nursing care can help accelerate the recovery process for patients with impaired physical mobility after femoral fracture surgery.
