Care in orphanages plays a crucial role in shaping the character of foster children, particularly in developing responsibility, which is essential for their social and religious life. This study explores how the parenting system at LKSA Ar Fakhrudin Muhammadiyah Orphanage in Ponorogo is implemented to foster students’ sense of responsibility, as well as the challenges and outcomes of the program. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving caregivers and students.
The findings reveal that parenting practices are carried out through modeling, habituation, and personal guidance. These efforts have led to positive changes, such as increased discipline, independence, and responsibility among the students. Although obstacles such as diverse personalities and past traumas exist, caregivers manage these through counseling and training. Overall, the program has been effective in cultivating a sustainable sense of responsibility in the students.
