THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CAREGIVER BURDEN AND FAMILY STRESS LEVELS OF STROKE PATIENTS AT THE NEUROLOGY CLINIC OF AISYIYAH PONOROGO GENERAL HOSPITAL

Stroke is a disease that can cause disability in a long period of time, so that in every activity it requires assistance from the family as a caregiver. Caregiver in caring for stroke patients have burden. Caregivers reported experiencing higher levels of mental stress than the patients themselves. This study aims to analyze the relationship between caregiver burden and the level of stress of family caregivers of stroke patients.
The method used in this research is the correlation method with the Spearman rank correlation statistical test. The instrument in the study used a questionnaire on the measurement of caregiver burden using the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) and measurement of stress levels using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire. Sampling was carried out with proportional random sampling technique for 30 days starting on June 3 2025 to July 3, 2025 totaling 92 respondents.
The results of the Spearman rank test showed a p value of 0.000 <0.05, meaning there is a significant relationship between caregiver burden and stress levels of families of stroke patients at the neurology clinic of RSU 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo. This means that the higher the burden experienced by the caregiver, the higher the stress felt. The results of this study are expected to be taken into consideration in providing emotional support interventions and stress management education for caregivers to reduce the psychological impact during the process of caring for stroke patients.
