THE RELATIONSHIP OF SELF-IMAGE WITH CONTROL COMPLIANCE IN PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MILLITUS

At the Internal Medicine Polyclinic, RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose (or blood sugar) levels, which can cause serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves. In controlling diabetes mellitus, it is necessary to have a personal view or self-image about the disease one is suffering from. A positive self-image of diabetes mellitus will reduce the risk of complications in sufferers.
This research uses a quantitative research design with a correlation study. The research design used used a cross sectional approach. The total sample was 37 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using self-image questionnaires and respondents' control compliance. Data were analyzed using the Fisher's Exact Test with a p value <0.05 which means there is a relationship between self-image and control compliance in diabetes mellitus patients at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic, RSU Muhmammadiyah Ponorogo.
Based on the results of the analysis in this study, the p value was obtained (0.005) < α = 0.05, which means there is a relationship between self-image and compliance with control in patients with diabetes mellitus at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic, RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo.
It is hoped that by conducting this research, it can improve the self-image of diabetes mellitus patients which can motivate them to comply with control every month.
