Speaking skills are one of the most essential aspects in mastering the Arabic language. However, in practice, many students face difficulties in expressing their ideas orally due to limited vocabulary, sentence structure, and lack of self-confidence. This study aims to explore the implementation of the role-playing method in improving students' Arabic speaking ability at MSU Nashrus Sunnah, as well as to identify the steps of its application and the obstacles encountered during the learning process.
This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included Arabic teachers and students. The role-playing method was applied through scenarios relevant to students' daily lives, such as conversations in markets, schools, and home environments. Each learning session was designed to train students' courage in speaking and to promote the proper use of vocabulary and sentence structures in real-life contexts.
The findings revealed that the role-playing method was effective in enhancing students' speaking skills. Students became more active, confident, and enthusiastic during learning activities. Furthermore, this method created an enjoyable and interactive classroom environment. Challenges encountered included limited time, students' shyness, and uneven vocabulary mastery. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers continuously develop variations of this method and provide additional speaking exercises to reinforce learning outcomes.
