APPLICATION OF ALTERNATE NOSTRIL BREATHING EXERCISE (ANBE) ON RESPIRATION RATE IN CHF PATIENTS WITH THE NURSING DIAGNOSIS OF INEFFECTIVE BREATHING PATTERN

Ineffective breathing pattern is a condition where inspiration and / or expiration does not provide adequate ventilation or a condition that cannot breathe spontaneously where the exchange of O2 (respiration) and CO2 (expiration) is not regular or inadequate breathing patterns in patients with CHF dipsnea.
This research uses a case study method on a CHF patient with a nursing diagnosis of ineffective breathing patterns who was admitted to the Darwis Room of RSUM Ponorogo. The method used is a case study with a nursing process approach through assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
The results showed that after being given the application of ANBE for five days with a duration of 10-20 minutes each session. a decrease in breathing frequency from 27x/minute before the intervention of dipsnea breathing pattern and to 19x/minute eupnea breathing pattern after five days, accompanied by a reduction in complaints of tightness and increased patient comfort. The nursing problem was declared resolved on day 5, characterized by a breath frequency within the normal range and 1. Breathing frequency within the normal range, no use of respiratory muscles, dyspnea decreased, prolongation of the expiratory phase decreased.
This application strengthens the evidence that ANBE can be an effective independent intervention for nurses in managing patients with breathing pattern disorders, especially in CHF.
