Abstract

Sugeng, 2025. Strengthening Elementary School Character Based on Hadith Learning: A Case Study at the Islamic Boarding School of Anak Sholeh Baitul Qur'an Gontor. Thesis. Master of Islamic Religious Education, Postgraduate Program, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo. 2025. Supervisors: (1) Dr. Nurul Iman, Lc, M.H.I.; and (2) Dr. Katni, M.Pd.I.

Currently, there is a worrying character crisis in Indonesia. The facts prove as the news circulating on social media starting from the case of a student who hit a teacher because he was reminded, then the case that recently went viral which can be said to fall into the category of bullying cases, this case is the case of a young doctor who ended his life because he could not cope with bullying from his seniors, elementary school students who had the heart to kill people in mental disorders and others. The purpose of this study is: 1) To explore and describe the strengthening of the character of students at MI Pesantren Anak Sholeh; 2) To analyze and describe the forms of Hadith learning carried out by MI Pesantren Anak Sholeh in shaping the character of students; 3. Analyze and describe the implications of Hadith learning on the character development of students at the Islamic Boarding School (MI) Anak Sholeh Baitul Qur'an.
This study will use a qualitative descriptive research method through a data collection process involving direct observation by the researcher, interviews with several informants related to this research, and supported by existing documentation, as well as by the researcher's own findings, as well as several school archives. This research was conducted at the MI Pesantren Anak Sholeh Baitul Qur'an.
The results of this study found that the character strengthening program at MI Pesantren Anak Sholeh Baitul Qur'an includes: 1) habituation through various school activities; 2) Hadith learning. Meanwhile, Hadith learning itself is divided into two stages: (1) in-class learning, including a) learning the Qur'an and Hadith; b) writing a diary with a theme based on the Hadith that the students have studied; c) providing a Hadith memorization guidebook for students, separated by theme; and (2) learning Hadith outside of class in the form of Muhadharah activities. The implications of all of this Hadith learning are very much in line with the character achievement indicators at elementary school level, which can instill honesty, discipline, concern for society and the environment, and religiousness.
