APPLICATION OF PASSIVE RANGE OF MOTION (ROM) TO ELDERLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED STROKE WITH NURSING PROBLEMS OF PHYSICAL MOBILITY DISORDERS IN THE AHMAD DAHLAN WARD, MUHAMMADIYAH PONOROGO HOSPITAL

Stroke is a brain dysfunction caused by disruption of blood flow to the brain, resulting in inadequate nutrition and oxygen supply. Risk factors that increase the incidence of stroke include non-modifiable factors such as age, as the risk of stroke increases in the elderly due to the interruption of blood supply to the brain. Blockage of blood vessels in stroke can lead to decreased motor function, leading to impaired physical mobility, resulting in weakness in the extremities and decreased muscle strength. This study aims to provide nursing care for elderly patients experiencing stroke with nursing problems related to impaired physical mobility.
Nursing care for the patient was carried out in the Ahmad Dahlan Room of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo Hospital for 5 days on July 31 - August 4, 2025. The method used was the nursing process approach. The results of the assessment found that the patient complained of weakness in the right extremities of the hands and feet. Nursing actions were carried out to increase muscle strength by providing APassive Range Of Motion (ROM). After providing Passive ROM therapy for 5 days, the results showed that muscle strength increased.
Nursing care for patients with impaired physical mobility is expected to provide an overview for stroke patients on how to apply passive range of motion (ROM) exercises to improve muscle strength.
