Application of Al-Quran Recitation Therapy with the Main Nursing Problem of Acute Pain in Post-Laparatomy (Caesarean Section) Patients

A Caesarean section is a surgical delivery process in the abdominal area that disrupts the continuity of tissue and nerves, resulting in pain in the incision area. Murrotal therapy is a non-pharmacological intervention that can be given to reduce the level of pain experienced by patients. The purpose of this case study was to determine the development of pain before and after the implementation of Murrotal Al-Quran therapy.
The method used was a case study nursing process approach on one patient (Mrs. E) with a medical diagnosis of post-cesarean section. The nursing problem that emerged was acute pain because the patient complained of pain in the incision area. Nursing care was provided in the Siti Walidah Room, Muhammadiyah Ponorogo General Hospital from November 10-14, 2025.
Initial assessment results indicated the patient complained of moderate pain. After regular Quranic recitation therapy and family involvement, Mrs. E's pain decreased. The patient complained of mild pain, did not grimace, and her anxiety decreased.
Quranic recitation therapy has been shown to help reduce pain experienced by post-cesarean section patients. Quranic recitation therapy is recommended as a safe and effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention to reduce pain experienced by patients.
