Acute pain is a common nursing problem experienced by patients with
vertigo. One of the methods used to reduce pain is pain management, which can
be performed through pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. A
non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied by nurses to vertigo
patients is the Epley maneuver. The purpose of this final scientific paper is to
provide nursing care for a vertigo patient experiencing acute pain.
Nursing care was carried out in the Inpatient Ward of UPTD Puskesmas
Maospati for six days, from August 28 to September 02, 2025, using the nursing
process approach, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention,
implementation, and evaluation.
The assessment revealed subjective data showing that the patient
experienced acute pain associated with vertigo, reporting a squeezing-type
headache, dizziness, and a pain scale of 6, which decreased with rest. The nursing
intervention applied was the Epley maneuver, conducted over five days, and it
proved effective in reducing the patient’s pain intensity from a scale of 6 to 1.
Nursing care for vertigo patients with acute pain is expected to provide
insight for patients and families regarding methods to reduce acute pain during
vertigo recurrence.
