Low prosocial behavior is evident among university students and adolescents in Indonesia, as well as among Islamic boarding school students who lack empathy, social responsibility, and concern for the environment, resulting in social interaction barriers.
This study aims to determine the relationship between parental attachment and prosocial behavior among students at Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo. This study was conducted using a quantitative method with a correlation design. The population in this study consisted of 155 students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo class of 2022, with a sample size of 111 students determined based on the Issac and Michael formula. The data collection technique used a Likert questionnaire to measure parental attachment and prosocial attitudes. Data analysis was performed using classical assumption tests, simple linear regression analysis, t-tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation tests using IBM SPSS Statistics 27. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between parental attachment and the prosocial attitudes of students at Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo. This shows that the more positive the parental attachment, the higher the prosocial attitudes. Based on these findings, parental attachment plays an important role in the formation of prosocial attitudes.
