Abstract

Erlena Dewi Kurniawati, 2026. The Effect of Deep learning-Based Reciprocal learning Model on the Mathematical Communication Skills of Grade VIII Students at SMPN 1 Ngrayun. Undergraduate Thesis. Mathematics Education Study Program, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Advisor 1: Dr. Arta Ekayanti, S.Pd., M.Sc., Advisor 2: Wahyudi, S.Si., M.Pd.

This study aims to determine the effect of a deep learning-based reciprocal learning model on the mathematical communication skills of eighth-grade students at SMP N 1 Ngrayun, Ponorogo.
This research is an experimental study involving a population of all eighth-grade students at SMP N 1 Ngrayun, Ponorogo, distributed across four classes. Two classes VIIIB and VIIIC were randomly selected from the population to serve as the sample. Subsequently, these two classes were randomly assigned to specific learning models: Class VIIIB received the deep learning-based reciprocal learning model, while Class VIIIC received the conventional learning model. Data collection was conducted using an essay test designed to measure mathematical communication skills. An independent sample t-test was employed to assess the effect, while the N-Gain statistical test was used to analyze score improvements and the effectiveness of the implemented model.
The independent sample t-test results yielded a significance value of 0.000< 0.05 based on the decision-making criteria, this indicates that the mathematical communication skills of students taught using the deep learning-based reciprocal learning model were superior to those of students taught using the expository model. Furthermore, N-Gain analysis showed that the experimental class achieved an average of 81.27% falling into the "effective" category, whereas the control class scored 40.37% falling into the "less effective" category. Thus, it can be concluded that the deep learning-based reciprocal learning model influences the mathematical communication skills of Grade VIII students at SMP N 1 Ngrayun.
