This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational approach and a cross-sectional
design. The study population consisted of 1,141 students from the Fashion Design Education Study
Program at Malang State University and the Arabic Language Education Study Program at
Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang. A sample of 92 respondents was
selected using the Slovin formula and purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a
Likert-scale questionnaire based on House's (1981) theory of family social support and Reivich
and Shatte's (2002) theory of resilience. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26 using validity
and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, normality tests, linearity tests, simple linear regression,
t-tests, and Pearson Product-Moment correlations. The results showed that family social support
was categorized as negative at 51.1% and positive at 48.9%. The resilience levels of students living
away from home were categorized as high at 54.3% and low at 45.7%. The results of the simple
linear regression test showed a calculated t-value of 11.048, greater than the t-table of 1.987, with
a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.576 indicates that
family social support contributed 57.6% to the resilience of out-of-town students, while 42.4% was
influenced by factors outside the study. Furthermore, the Pearson correlation test showed a
correlation coefficient of 0.759, indicating a strong positive relationship between family social
support and resilience. The conclusion of this study is that there is a positive and significant
influence between family social support and resilience in out-of-town students in Malang City. The
higher the level of family social support received by students, the higher their level of resilience.
