Abstract

Cesarean section (CS) is a surgical procedure to deliver a fetus thru an incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. This procedure causes tissue damage that triggers acute pain after the effects of anesthesia wear off. Pain that is not optimally managed can hinder mobilization, disrupt the fulfillment of basic needs, and slow down the postpartum recovery process.
This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach on one postpartum cesarean section mother in the Siti Walidah Room of RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Data collection was conducted thru interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation studies with nursing process stages including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
Assessment shows the patient is experiencing acute pain at the surgical site with a moderate pain scale. The nursing diagnosis established is acute pain related to physical injury agents due to the surgical procedure. Interventions include pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management, including deep breathing relaxation techniques, education, pain observation, vital sign monitoring, and collaboration in administering analgesics.
After three days of nursing care, the intensity of pain decreased, the patient appeared more comfortable, was able to perform gradual mobilization, and showed progress in the recovery process. The application of comprehensive nursing care has proven to support the reduction of acute pain and improve the quality of recovery in post-cesarean section mothers.
