This research is motivated by the importance of Quranic learning methods capable of enhancing the quality of students' memorization—specifically regarding the accuracy of tajwid (rules of recitation) and makhraj (points of articulation), fluency, and retention. The talaqqi method is one such approach that provides direct guidance and correction to students. Consequently, there is a need for a learning method that offers continuous, direct instruction; the talaqqi method is one such option applicable to Quranic memorization tahfidz learning.
This study aims to describe the implementation of the talaqqi method in improving the quality of students' memorization at the Al-Muslimun Putri Islamic Boarding School in Magetan, to understand the method's implications for memorization quality, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its execution. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Research subjects include the boarding school leadership, the tahfidz instructors ustadzah, and students enrolled in the tahfidz program at the school. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation.
The research findings indicate that the talaqqi method at the Al-Muslimun Putri Islamic Boarding School is implemented in a routine and structured manner through memorization recitation sessions setoran and review sessions murojaah. The talaqqi process involves the instructor reciting Quranic verses while students listen, imitate, and subsequently recite their memorized portions directly to receive corrections regarding makhraj and tajwid. The application of the talaqqi method has a positive impact on the quality of students' memorization, particularly concerning makhraj accuracy, tajwid application, reading fluency, and long-term retention. Supporting factors for the implementation of the talaqqi method include a conducive boarding school environment, institutional system support, instructor competence, and the students' internal motivation. The inhibiting factors include the limited application of the talaqqi method at certain levels, the physical and mental fatigue experienced by the students, and a lack of self-confidence among some of them. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the talaqqi method is effective in improving the quality of memorization among students at the Al-Muslimun Putri Islamic Boarding School in Magetan, as it facilitates structured instruction, immediate correction, and spiritual and emotional guidance between the female instructors teacher and the students.
