STRATEGI MANAJEMEN EVENT HANDARBENI FEST

This study aims to analyze the event management strategy in organizing the Handarbeni
Fest Buceng Porak Cultural Festival in Bandaralim Village, Ponorogo Regency, which
is an annual cultural event intended to preserve local traditions while enhancing the
village’s image as a cultural tourism destination. This research employs a qualitative
approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews,
observation, and documentation, involving key informants such as the village head,
event committee leader, and community members directly involved in the event. The
data analysis technique used is the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which
includes data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The
results show that the event management strategy of Handarbeni Fest has implemented
the five stages proposed by Goldblatt, namely Research, Design, Planning,
Coordination, and Evaluation. The research stage was conducted through community
discussions, observation of previous events, and the involvement of traditional leaders;
the design stage was reflected in theme selection, event concept innovation, and visual
identity development; the planning stage included the formation of the organizing
committee, scheduling, and technical preparation; the coordination stage became
the main strength due to strong community participation and the value of mutual
cooperation; while the evaluation stage was conducted through internal meetings,
although it has not been systematically and well documented. In conclusion, the event
management strategy of Handarbeni Fest has been fairly effective within the local
cultural context, particularly in terms of community participation and coordination;
however, improvements are still needed in aspects of professionalism, digital
promotion, and evaluation systems to ensure the event’s sustainability and broader
competitiveness.
