Development: The use of engaging learning media is essential for early childhood education, particularly in introducing children to local culture. One of the most appropriate learning media is a pop-up storybook because it presents attractive three-dimensional and interactive illustrations. The intellectual property (HKI) product entitled "Sedekah Bumi: The History of the Lelarung Sesaji Tradition at Pidakan Beach" was developed as a learning medium to help children aged 5–6 years recognize and appreciate their local culture.
This storybook is designed using simple language, colorful illustrations, and pop-up elements on every page to increase children's interest in learning. The product is also aligned with the Child Development Achievement Standards (STPPA) established under the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation (Permendikbud) Number 137 of 2014, covering the developmental aspects of religious and moral values, language, cognitive development, social-emotional development, and art.
The development results indicate that the pop-up storybook can enhance children's interest in learning, facilitate their understanding of the story, and introduce local culture in an enjoyable and meaningful way. In addition, the book helps instill the values of mutual cooperation, gratitude, and environmental awareness from an early age.
Therefore, the pop-up storybook "Sedekah Bumi: The History of the Lelarung Sesaji Tradition at Pidakan Beach" can be used as an engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate learning medium for early childhood education.
