Abstract

Abstract

A number of farmers in Ponorogo Regency are now cultivating porang crops. The tubers of such plants become the raw material for the manufacture of flour and cosmetic ingredients. The harvest price of wet porang is around Rp. 10,000.00 – Rp. 15,000.00 per kilogram, while porang that has been chopped and dried or commonly referred to as porang chips can cost up to Rp. 55,000.00 – Rp. 65,000.00 per kilogram. However, there are still many porangs that are sold wet, especially in the Ngrayun District area. Related to this, the process of processing porang to be dried is quite long, especially with the plucking method which uses manual methods. The final result obtained from the results of the design of the porang tuber chopper machine with an electric motor power of 0.348 kW is that it can chopping porang tubers with an average of 2.5 kg / minute, so that it can speed up the processing process.
