Abstract

ABSTRACT
THE RELATIONSHIP OF SMOKING BEHAVIOR WITH THE DEGREE OF ISPA

AT PURWANTORO HEALTH CENTER

One of the factors that influences the incidence of ISPA is smoking behavior, where this behavior is a habit carried out by smokers to provide satisfaction for those who enjoy it. This study aims to determine the relationship between smoking behavior and the degree of ARI at the Purwantoro Community Health Center. The method in this research is correlation analysis using a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all patients who sought treatment at the UPTD Puskesmas Purwantoro in the last 7 months of 2023 with a total research sample of 79 people using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a questionnaire about smoking behavior and the degree of ISPA.. The results obtained from 79 respondents with smoking behavior were 67 people (84.8%) with a mild degree of ISPA of 22 people (32.8%), a moderate degree of 45 people (67.2%) and a severe degree of 0% and the respondents did not smoke. a total of 12 people (100%) with mild ISPA. Analysis using Spearman Rank resulted in a p-value α = 0.000, which means the p-value α < 0.05, so it can be interpreted that there is a relationship between smoking behavior and the degree of ARI at the Purwantoro Community Health Center. From the results of this study, researchers concluded that smoking behavior is related to the occurrence of ARI, where respondents who smoke are more at risk of ARI. Which of each variable is also influenced by age, gender, education and occupation with different analysis results.
