Abstract

ABSTRACT

TITLE: THE RELATIONSHIP OF MEDICATION COMPLIANCE WITH THE INCIDENT OF HYPERTENSION COMPLICATIONS AT RSAU dr. EFRAM HARSANA ISWAHJUDI LAND

By: Lutfi Nur Muhammadin

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that is a problem in the health sector and is often found in health services, especially in hospitals. Compliance can be used as a parameter of the patient's level of knowledge in carrying out instructions from medical personnel in the form of knowledge about prescriptions, taking drugs regularly and appropriately, and changing lifestyles. The goal of treatment in patients with hypertension is to improve the quality of life, but many stop treatment when their body improves slightly, so it is necessary for patients who undergo hypertension treatment to have better quality of life. This study was conducted to determine adherence to taking medication with the incidence of complications of hypertension.
This research method uses descriptive correlation with a Cross Sectional approach to 93 respondents at RSAU dr. Efram Harsana with purposive sampling using the MMAS questionnaire.
The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents had medication compliance in the moderate category as many as 50 people (53.8%), high compliance as many as 26 people (28.0%) and low compliance as many as 17 people (18.3%). According to Puspita (2016), the factors associated with adherence to treatment for hypertensive patients in treatment, show that the factors of education level, length of suffering from hypertension, knowledge, family support, the role of health workers, gender motivation, employment status, health insurance participation and affordability of health service access.
The majority of respondents in this study had female gender as many as 57 people (61.3%) and male respondents as many as 36 people (38.7%). Data were processed and analyzed using the Ichi Square test with α = 0.05. The results showed that the level of compliance was moderate 53.8% as many as 93 respondents. Based on statistical tests, it is known that the P-Value = 0.000 <0.05 indicates that H1 is accepted, which means that there is a relationship between adherence to taking medication with the study of complications of hypertension.
