Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by high levels of blood sugar or glucose. Family support can be provided by motivating patients to control blood sugar levels. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between family support and motivation to control blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus in the Pakisbaru Community Health Center working area, Nawangan District.
This research uses a quantitative research design, with a cross sectional research design. The total sample was 40 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Data collection used the HDFSS and TSRQ questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test (p = 0.05) to see the relationship between the two variables.
The results of research from 40 respondents showed that the majority of respondents received good family support and motivation to control high blood sugar levels, with a P Value of 0.009 which means that H1 was accepted, namely there is a relationship between family support and motivation to control blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients in the region. work at the Pakisbaru Community Health Center, Nawangan District, Pacitan Regency.
It can be concluded that family support is related to motivation in controlling blood sugar levels. This research can be recommended for DM patients and their families to better manage their DM.
