Abstract
ABSTRACT
The increasing use of petroleum is in line with the increasing demand for energy due to the increasing supply of energy in liquid form, especially diesel. Combining diesel with biodiesel is one way found by public authorities to slow down the rate of diesel fuel use by producing alternative energy. Biodiesel can be produced using various raw materials, such as palm oil, coconut, grains, nuts, jatropha, and others. So the purpose of this study is "To determine the effect of using a mixture of biodiesel fuel on the performance of torque, power, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of a 1-cylinder diesel engine. The data presented in this chapter were obtained through the manufacture and testing of tools used to collect data, this collection method includes observation and documentation of the addition of biodiesel affecting Power and Torque, all of which decreased in power and torque than using diesel. It can be concluded that biodiesel as a mixture of diesel can reduce fuel consumption by a difference of 17% in the S80B20 fuel mixture. The exhaust emissions are also affected by the addition of biodiesel, which has a difference of 5.40% reduction. The conclusion is that the addition of biodiesel as a fuel mixture decreases power and torque, while fuel consumption and exhaust emissions decrease, indicating a positive effect on exhaust emissions.
