Abstract

Conventional exams are often time-consuming and prone to high levels of cheating such as cheating because they are relatively easy to do. To facilitate the correction of answers and reduce student cheating, computer-based exam technology is needed, or what is known as Computer-Based Test (CBT). This study aims to apply the Fisher-Yates algorithm to the randomization of questions in the computer-based test (CBT) at SMK Negeri Poncol. The software development method used is the Waterfall method which includes needs analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Data were collected through literature studies, interviews, and observations. The implementation of the Fisher-Yates algorithm was carried out in a PHP-based CBT application with the Laravel Framework and MySQL. Testing was carried out by randomizing Indonesian and Javanese exam questions 30 times. The results showed that the percentage of similarity in the order of questions was very low, namely 3.33% and 3.44%, so that each student received a different order of questions. In conclusion, the test results of the CBT system of SMK Negeri Poncol embedded with the Fisher-Yates algorithm indicate that the random accuracy is very high because the similarity value between students is only 3.33% for Indonesian and 3.44% for Javanese with the CBT system can reduce the level of cheating, and is effective in improving the quality and integrity of exams at SMK Negeri Poncol.
