Abstract

Chronic pain is pain the persist throught a certain period. Pain is often
associated with damage to the body which is a warning of actual or potential
threats. The problem that often arises in the elderly is pain. The purpose of this case
study is to provide nursing care for the elderly related to chronic pain.
The methods used in this case study are interviews, observations, and
documentation on Mrs. K including assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention,
implementation, and nursing evaluation. For 4 days starting from February 7, 2024
– February 10, 2024.
The result of the assessment Mrs. K complained of pain in the night calf.
The pain feels like being stabbed with a pain scale of 6, the pain occurs at any time
and when waking up. Nursing actions taken include observing pain thoroughly,
providing non-pharmacological techniques, namely Benson therapy with istigfar,
providing health education related to the pain experienced by the beneficiary.
Chronic pain in Mrs. K was partially resolved, the client’s general condition was
good, the client was able to understand the cause of the pain she felt, pain
complaints decreased with a pain scale of 3.
This case study is expected to be able to provide motivation in efforts to
increase knowledge, especially in elderly patients with chronic pain problems to
prevent unwanted complications.
