Abstract

APPLICATION OF THE SEMI FOWLER POSITION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE WITH NURSING PROBLEMS INEFECTIVE BREATHING PATTERN

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic lung disease that lasts for a long time and is characterized by a decrease in air flow in the respiratory tract. Reduced oxygen in the arteries can cause shortness of breath. Oxygen deficiency in COPD patients can cause ineffective breathing problems due to inadequate breathing and exhalation of the lungs. This case study is aimed at performing nursing orphanage on COPD clients with ineffective breathing pattern nurse problems.
The method used is a descriptive method of approaching nursing processes in COPD clients with ineffective breathing pattern nurseship problems by performing nurse care that includes examination, formulation of diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation of nursery. The nursing process lasted seven days from May 21st to May 27th, 2024. The intervention is the application of a semi-fowler position to reduce the discomfort of the COPD client. The application of semifowler positions lasts for 6 days and is carried out 1 day once. From the presence of the nursing process obtained the result that after giving the semi-fowler position for 6 days the sickness felt by the client COPD gradually decreases; it can be seen from the subjective data, such as the client saying it was not sick either in sitting or lying condition. Nursing care for COPD clients with ineffective breathing pattern nursing problems is expected to be a picture for COPD patients, especially with inefective breath patterns, to be able to apply semi-fowler positions independently when shortness of breath occurs.
