Abstract
Abstract
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a vegetable with both commercial value and good prospects,
and it is easily found in the market. The continuous use of chemical fertilizers without
balancing with organic fertilizers can lead to degradation of agricultural land, which in
turn reduces agricultural production. One way to improve crop production is by
enhancing soil fertility through the application of organic fertilization. Organic fertilizers
can be categorized into two types: solid organic fertilizers and liquid organic fertilizers.
Therefore, to improve soil fertility, researchers will implement drip fertigation integrated
with the Internet of Things (IoT), allowing irrigation and fertilization to occur
simultaneously, known as fertigation. The basic concept of fertigation is to mix fertilizer
with water and then slowly deliver it through emitters or drip systems, using low pressure
through a distribution pipe system. The implementation of drip fertigation on lettuce
plants integrated with IoT operates effectively and provides high accuracy, averaging
over 90%. The mobile-based soil fertility monitoring system can also be easily accessed
via a smartphone. As a result, lettuce growers can control and monitor plant conditions
from anywhere connected to the internet. Overall, the application of IoT in lettuce farming
has significant potential to enhance efficiency, quality, and yield while helping to address
farmers' challenges. It is hoped that this technology will promote more sustainable,
efficient agriculture and produce superior products, positively impacting farmers and
increasing overall lettuce production.
