Abstract

Color vision is an important function in daily life, and color blindness can affect an individual's ability to distinguish colors. This research aims to design a microcontroller-based color blindness examination tool that applies the Ishihara method. This tool is designed to overcome the weaknesses of manual methods which are often inefficient and prone to errors, such as the use of paper that tears easily and the possibility of test sheets being lost. By using a microcontroller, this tool can display examination results automatically via an LCD that is integrated with a 4x4 matrix keypad, making it easier for participants to carry out the test. Apart from that, this system is expected to speed up the examination process and increase the accuracy of diagnosis results, with the examination results automatically being visible on the LCD screen display. This research also discusses the technical specifications of the devices used, including the Arduino Mega 2560 as the main microcontroller. With the development of this tool, it is hoped that it can increase the effectiveness of color blindness screening, especially among students and the general public, as well as make a positive contribution to the field of visual health.
