Abstract

Muhammad Sulhannudin, 2023. "The correlation between Quran reading ability and
Arabic language proficiency on the achievement of Islamic Religious Education (PAI)
learning in Islamic Elementary School Faza Palembang academic year 2022/2023.".
Study Program: Postgraduate Islamic Education Master, Muhammadiyah University
of Ponorogo. Mentor Dr. Muh. Tajab, M.A. and Dr. Syarifan Nurjan, M.A.
This thesis aims to explore the relationship between Quran reading ability and
academic achievement in the field of Islamic Education. Islamic Education plays a crucial
role in shaping understanding, values, and religious practices within the Muslim community.
Quran reading ability is also a key component of Islamic Education, as the Quran serves as
the primary source of religious teachings.
The research methodology employed is Quantitative study, involving a sample of
students enrolled in schools that offer Islamic Education. Data on the participants' Quran
reading ability and academic achievement are collected using validated and reliable
instruments.
Based on the research results, it is indicated that out of 40 students from Islamic Faza
Elementary School who were sampled for the study, none of the students' report scores fall
into the fair and adequate categories (0%), while 26 students (65%) fall into the good
category, and 14 students (35%) fall into the excellent category. Based on this data, it can be
concluded that the report scores of students from Islamic Faza Elementary School are
considered good because more than half of the respondents fall into the good category,
specifically 26 students or 65% of the total number of students.
This research is anticipated to provide a significant contribution to the improvement
of Islamic religious education development in Faza Islamic Elementary School, Palembang,
through the attainment of practical and theoretical benefits. Furthermore, it is hoped that this
research will broaden the understanding of the relationship between Quranic reading skills
and learning outcomes in the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the Elementary
School level (SD).
