Abstract

The spread of narcotics is very difficult to prevent considering that almost all people in the world can easily obtain narcotics from irresponsible individuals. Of course, this worries parents, community organizations and the government. Narcotics are drugs that are used in the medical world, but if they are misused, the act violates the law and must be given sanctions. One of the problems with narcotics circulation is the circulation of narcotics in state detention centers. This can be seen from the number of cases of thwarted narcotics smuggling into detention centers which continues to increase every year.
The purpose of this research is to determine the factors causing the entry of narcotics into detention centers, to determine the legal consequences for perpetrators who enter narcotics into detention centers, and to determine the obstacles and efforts made by prisons in preventing the entry of narcotics into detention centers. The type of research applied is empirical research with a juridical empirical approach, which is carried out based on what happens in the field and book guides by processing data from primary legal materials, secondary legal materials and tertiary legal materials.
Based on the research results, it is understood that the factor causing the entry of narcotics into detention centers is because there is too much illegal circulation of narcotics outside the detention center so that it is also easy for them to enter the detention center through new methods so that prison officers find it difficult to prevent it. Detention center visitors also become one of the routes for narcotics to enter the detention center by tricking officers, and the involvement of unscrupulous individuals in bringing narcotics into the detention center for their personal gain. The obstacle faced by detention officers in preventing the entry of narcotics into prisons is the lack of human resources for prison officers themselves, as can be seen from the unequal ratio of the number of officers to inmates. The prison's efforts to prevent the entry of narcotics into the detention center include providing strict sanctions to individuals who are proven to have committed narcotics crimes, tightening and updating the monitoring system for prison officers, visitors and inmates, and establishing cooperation with relevant agencies to assist in preventing entry. narcotics into prison.
