Abstract
Forest fires have a negative impact on the ecosystem including drought and damaging water sources. This certainly has an impact on the balance of the ecosystem which is not immediately addressed resulting in prolonged adverse effects. Through reforestation activities can help restore the function of forests as the lungs of the world. In order to maintain water sources in the Bayangkaki mountain area, Temon Village, Sawoo District, Ponorogo Regency. This study aims to analyze reforestation strategies in restoring springs affected by forest fires through the ecocentrism and new social movement theoretical approaches. The ecocentrism approach is used to understand the importance of ecosystem balance as the main focus in environmental recovery efforts. while the new social movement theory helps examine the role of local communities, environmental organizations and civil society in supporting reforestation. This research method uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through interviews and document analysis. The results showed that reforestation with local tree species such as karet kebo, bulu, ipik, jambu klampok and beringin contributed significantly to increasing groundwater absorption capacity. In addition, the involvement of local communities in the reforestation program increases the sustainability of rehabilitation efforts through long-term management. The impact of this reforestation has successfully restored 10 water sources.
