Abstract

ABSTRACT

Human rights are a fundamental right to life, and prisoners are no exception. The focus of the research is how the rights of inmates are implemented in accordance with Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning Correctional Services and its derivative regulations, especially in the Magetan Class IIB Prison.

This study uses empirical juridical with a qualitative approach. This involves interviews with related parties in the Magetan Class IIB Detention Center, literature checks, and document analysis. The results show that, although the rights of prisoners have been regulated by law, there are several obstacles that hinder the implementation of these rights, such as the right to health and the right to communicate.

These obstacles are caused by limited facilities and infrastructure, human resources, and budget. This study recommends the need to improve the quality of services and supervision of the implementation of the rights of inmates in the Class IIB Magetan Prison in accordance with the principles of the human right
