Abstract

SCIENTIFIC PAPER: MENTAL NURSING CARE FOR SCHIZOPHRENIA PATIENTS WITH NURSING PROBLEMS OF VIOLENT BEHAVIOR RISK

The risk of violent behavior is a condition where someone shows a potential physical, emotional, or sexual threat to others, and has the potential to harm themselves, others, or the environment due to an inability to control themselves. Violence can take the form of anger or hostility that causes physical injury or damage through actions or words. The purpose of this scientific paper is to provide psychiatric nursing care for schizophrenia patients with problems at risk of violent behavior, which includes assessment, data analysis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.

This nursing care was carried out on February 5 - 9, 2025 in the Sena room of Dr. Arif Zainudin Surakarta Mental Hospital for 5 days using the nursing process approach method.

The patient's assessment revealed a risk of violent behavior. Implementation was carried out by providing implementation strategies, consisting of the implementation strategy on the first day, namely monitoring objects and items that could be dangerous and deep breathing relaxation. The implementation strategy on the second day was expressing feelings assertively and reducing anger verbally through storytelling. The implementation strategy on the third day was maintaining a safe environment and saying istighfar (repentance). The implementation strategy on the fourth day was solving problems constructively. The final evaluation results showed that the patient was able to repeat the implementation strategies well and was able to describe the causes of anger and the signs and symptoms felt. The patient also said that he felt calm, his anger was no longer there and he seemed happy, so that all actions had been completed and the problem had been resolved.
