Abstract

Speaking ability is an important aspect in children's language development. It can directly affect the way they
communicate and interact socially. By adapting the Show and Tell method where children are asked to bring
objects and tell their stories. The research study was conducted at Dharma Wanita 01 Badegan Kindergarten with
the aim of describing the application of the show and tell method in speaking ability in children aged 4-5 years,
as well as what are the supporting and inhibiting factors in the application of the show and tell method for speaking
ability of children aged 4-5 years at Dharma Wanita 01 Badegan Kindergarten. This study uses a qualitative
method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out through a combination of direct observation,
in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. To ensure the validity of the findings, source triangulation was
carried out. The results of the study can be described as follows; (1) The application of the Show and Tell Method
to stimulate the speaking ability of children aged 4-5 years is carried out through three main stages, namely
planning, selection, and production which are carried out systematically in thematic activities. Children are given
the opportunity to bring objects or pictures from home to be introduced and told in front of friends. This method
also strengthens the relationship between home and school, and creates interactive and meaningful learning. The
indicators of success are carried out by measuring the child's abilities including aspects of pronunciation, volume,
word choice, intonation, fluency, and self-confidence. (2) The supporting and inhibiting factors of the Show and
Tell method are;First, supporting factors include active student involvement and teacher support.SecondInhibiting
factors include time constraints and the dominance of more active students. With careful planning and appropriate
classroom management strategies, this method can be implemented sustainably to stimulate early childhood
language development.
