THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY SUPPORT AND ADHERENCE TO A LOW-PURINE DIET IN PATIENTS WITH GOUT ARTHRITIS IN THE WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS LEMBEYAN KABUPATEN MAGETAN

Gout Arthritis is a joint disease caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints, which leads to pain and impairs daily activities. A low-purine diet is an essential part of managing this condition. However, the success of the diet is highly influenced by the patient's adherence, which can be supported by family involvement. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and adherence to a low-purine diet in patients with gout arthritis in the working area of Lembeyan Public Health Center, Magetan Regency.
This research used a correlational quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 149 patients, and the sample included 60 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using family support and low-purine diet adherence questionnaires.
Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank statistical test with a significance level of <0.05. The results showed that most respondents with high family support had good adherence to a low-purine diet. Statistical analysis revealed a very strong correlation between family support and diet adherence, with a correlation value of r = 0.971 and p = 0.000.
In conclusion, there is a very strong relationship between family support and adherence to a low-purine diet in patients with gout arthritis. This highlights the importance of family involvement in supporting the success of non-pharmacological therapy for gout arthritis patients.
