The presence of teachers in schools plays a crucial role in determining the quality of education received by students. Selecting outstanding teachers serves as a form of recognition that can motivate educators to enhance their commitment in teaching and guiding students. However, the selection process at SMPN 1 Sukomoro has been carried out subjectively, where the school principal directly appoints a teacher as a delegate without measurable and objective evaluation. Consequently, the process lacks transparency and is prone to personal bias, which may lead to dissatisfaction among teachers, decreased motivation, and hinder the development of a healthy competitive atmosphere to improve teacher professionalism. To address this issue, this study proposes the development of a teacher selection application using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) algorithm, with criteria based on technical guidelines, namely attendance, student satisfaction, individual achievement index, training participation, and teaching competence. The teaching competence criterion is further divided into sub-criteria: public speaking, subject mastery, emotional understanding of students, and teaching methods. The SAW method is applied to generate teacher rankings as selection outcomes. This research employs the waterfall model in application development, utilizing PHP and MySQL. The system produces reports in the form of ranked lists of outstanding teachers. The results indicate that the implementation of the SAW algorithm in a web-based application provides accurate outcomes, consistent with manual calculations, and ensures a more transparent and objective teacher selection process at SMPN 1 Sukomoro.
