Abstract
IMPLEMENTATION OF SEQUENTIAL SEARCHING ALGORITHM IN DOCUMENT STORAGE DATABASE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRADE, COOPERATIVES, AND MICRO ENTERPRISES OF PONOROGO REGENCY

Abstract
Document management in government agencies is essential to ensure administrative effectiveness and public service quality. However, the Department of Trade, Cooperatives, and Micro Enterprises of Ponorogo Regency still relies on a manual paper-based archiving system, leading to issues such as slow data retrieval, document loss risk, and time inefficiency. To address these challenges, this research develops a web-based document management application equipped with a search feature using the Sequential Search algorithm. This algorithm is selected for its simplicity and ability to perform linear searches without prior sorting. The development process adopts the Waterfall model, including requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Testing was conducted using the Black Box method and performance evaluation of search times based on various criteria, such as document type, letter number, title, and date range. Results indicate that the application achieves an average search time of 59.07 milliseconds across all test scenarios, demonstrating fast, accurate, and consistent performance. The implementation of this system improves administrative efficiency, simplifies archive retrieval, and reduces the risk of data loss. This study concludes that the Sequential Search algorithm is effective for small to medium-sized datasets and provides an optimal solution for archival digitalization in government institutions..
