Abstract

Although hypertension is not contagious, it is one of the most common causes of death. Unhealthy lifestyles, such as stress, obesity, lack of physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and high-fat foods, can cause hypertension. Additionally, age, gender, and a family history of hypertension are also risk factors.. This case study aims to understand family nursing care for a patient with hypertension diagnosed with Ineffective Family Health Management at the North Ponorogo Community Health Center.
Family nursing care for hypertension patients was carried out in the working area of the North Ponorogo Health Center, Keniten sub-district for 3 days on May 22, 23 and 24, 2025. The method used was the nursing process.
The assessment revealed that Mr. K's family suffered from hypertension and complained of dizziness. The family rarely underwent check-ups at health services, and the family did not know how to treat patients with hypertension. Actions taken included educating patients about the disease and its treatment, and scheduling regular intake of blood pressure-lowering medication.
The results of the evaluation of Mr. K's family problem have been resolved, namely the family understands how to care for a family member with hypertension and the patient no longer complains of dizziness and BP: 150/80
The role of nurses is very important in providing nursing care, because they can contribute greatly to improving patient health.
