Abstract
Breastfeeding is an activity that has a positive impact on postpartum
mothers. One of the obstacles to early breastfeeding is low milk production, which
causes ineffective breastfeeding in postpartum mothers. This can be caused by an
inadequate milk supply. This case report aims to apply breast care techniques to
increase milk production in postpartum mothers with ineffective breastfeeding
problems.
Nursing care was provided in the Siti Walidah Room at the Muhammadiyah
Ponorogo General Hospital for 5 days, from August 5 to 9, 2025. The method used
was a nursing process approach for Mrs. R, who had ineffective breastfeeding,
using a breast milk flow observation sheet as an assessment tool.
The assessment results showed that the client felt that her baby was not
satisfied with the amount of breast milk produced, the baby was easily fussy, and it
was found that very little breast milk was produced. An alternative measure to
overcome this nursing problem was to use the Breast Care Technique. After
applying the Breast Care for 5 days, it was found that this technique could increase
breast milk production.
Ineffective nursing care for breastfeeding clients due to inadequate breast
milk supply is expected to serve as a reference for postpartum mothers who are
breastfeeding so that they can prevent ineffective breastfeeding by independently
applying the Breast Care Technique when the complaint occurs.
