Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects children's physical growth and cognitive development. In the working area of Bungkal Health Center, stunting cases increased by 7.92% within six months, indicating the need for family-based interventions to manage child health effectively.
Methods: This study employed a case study approach to family nursing care for a stunted child with ineffective family health management. The nursing process was carried out through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and physical examinations.
The family was found to have limited understanding of the child’s health condition and faced difficulties in managing care. The main nursing diagnosis was ineffective family health management. Interventions included educational, therapeutic, and emotional support approaches. The results showed improvements in family understanding of the child’s condition, increased involvement in care, and appropriate use of healthcare services.
Nursing interventions focusing on family empowerment proved effective in improving family health management. The success of the intervention was influenced by appropriate education, effective communication, and collaboration between nurses and the family. This study highlights the essential role of nurses in providing holistic care by treating the family as the primary unit of care in stunting cases.
