Verbal Communication Disorder is the occurrence of difficulty speaking due to weakness of the muscles used for speaking, resulting in problems when speaking, not being able to find the right words, speaking in sentences. The purpose of this case study is to determine nursing care for stroke patients, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
Care for stroke patients was provided over three days, from July 16-18, 2025, in the Aster Room at Dr. Harjono Ponorogo Regional Hospital. The methods used were interviews and observations, including assessment, data analysis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
The study revealed that the patient was suffering from an infarct stroke and complained of difficulty speaking. The intervention was based on the SIKI and utilized the alternative communication method, a-i-u-e-o therapy.
The results of nursing implementation on patients show that the client's speaking ability has increased and the client's communication understanding has improved.
This study is expected to provide therapy and education for caring for stroke patients with verbal communication disorders.
